Fostering strong and genuine relationships with our stakeholders and the communities in which we operate is imperative at Crew. Our proactive approach to community interaction starts with communication and engagement. We focus on the needs of local organizations and community groups.
Crew Cares
Crew’s approach to all aspects of our business is designed to impact all our stakeholders positively. Consistent with this tenet, we have initiated an employee-led Crew Cares program. The program provides staff the opportunity to volunteer with select charities, enabling Crew to contribute meaningfully to the community and build relationships within the organization with fellow employees.
As a family-focused company, every holiday season, Crew selects a charity supporting families in need during the holidays. In true competitive spirit, many discipline teams compete to collect the most items!
Taking Initiative
An initiative that Crew is particularly proud of is its ongoing involvement with the Calgary Food Bank’s “Put the Boots to Hunger” over the past 10 years, which has supported the purchase of food for 191 families in need.
From 2018-2020 alone, Crew has donated $30,000 to this wonderful cause that supports the many facing food insecurity in our community.
“With the support of Crew Energy, the Calgary Food Bank brand was visible to not just the Calgary community, but nationally and that brand exposure is significant for the organization. It’s an event that has generated donations over $4-million dollars in food and funds since 2008. This is an incredible accomplishment and truly would not be possible without companies like Crew Energy and their support of this campaign.”

Community Giving
COVID-19 has impacted our in-person volunteering efforts. Our employees continue to be engaged with the community through donations and volunteering opportunities where health and safety protocols are properly followed.

Key Stakeholders & Partners
Crew’s partnerships and relationships with our stakeholders unite us with a common goal of working together and driving towards a sustainable and prosperous future.
Crew strives to engage community stakeholders throughout the entire lifecycle of a project, starting with upfront and honest discussions during the planning process. A successful project to Crew is one in which the community and affected stakeholders are involved and supportive.
Government & Regulators
Crew proactively engages with government agencies and regulators on many aspects of our business. Governments and regulators within Canada are often considered global leaders in developing and enforcing regulatory requirements centred on all ESG components. Crew acknowledges the importance of robust regulations and strong enforcement. Crew’s proactive approach and on-going communication ensures a clear understand of evolving regulatory changes and assists in ensuring all regulatory requirements are met if not exceeded.
Community Partners
Crew is proud to be neighbors with stakeholders in the communities in which operate. Understanding concerns of local landowners, residents and other stakeholders is paramount to our success in operating in the community. Crew recognizes that we need to earn stakeholder’s respect and understand our ability to undertake our activity in the community is a privilege and must not be taken lightly. Crew is dedicated to being a good neighbor and has addressed community concerns as follows:
- Road upkeep and maintenance
- Excess light from operations
- Noise generated from activity
- Minimize road traffic during times of high local use
Crew participates on several industry related committees to gain a greater understanding of topical matters taking place within our industry. In doing so, Crew can help impact decisions that may affect stakeholders in our communities. In addition, Crew sits on the Board of Governors with The Explorers and Producers Association of Canada (“EPAC”). Known as “Canada’s Oil & Gas Entrepreneurs, EPAC creates a platform for Crew to actively participate in industry-leading practice working groups that focus on the overall sustainability of our industry while promoting the environment and a strong regulatory framework.

West Septimus Road Use Committee
Crew’s approach to safety can never be compromised and we often identify areas that could be improved. Often operating in areas with multiple industrial road users, Crew recognized the need for increased communication for users of intricate and remote road system. As a result, in 2015 Crew initiated and oversees the “West Septimus Road Use Committee”. Meetings are held several times of the year with other oil and gas operators, forestry companies, BC Hydro and other stakeholders. With substantial activity taking place in proximity to Crew’s infrastructure, the goal was to ensure safety and maintenance was upheld for all users. Additionally, the committee finds opportunities for collaboration, strengthening a trustworthy and open communication policy.
